Reopening the Trail
While we’ve got the Garfield Gulch section of the trail reopened, we’ve hit a wall with reopening the Railroad Grade and Schuster Slope sections. We have some ideas to provide a carrot and stick approach to get the city to reopen.
The stick is raising the issue of the city’s seeming ongoing non compliance with the terms of the grant used to build the trails in 1975.
The carrot is providing a way out of that noncompliance for little or no cost by using a 501c3 organization, “Friends of the Bayside Trails.”
We also have high hopes that a new mayor will enable change.
